Alex Albert, Vice President of Government Affairs, ICE

Alex Albert is Vice President of Government Affairs at Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE). Mr. Albert was named to this post in March 2010 and manages ICE’s governmental affairs in Washington, D.C. where he works directly with Congress and federal regulatory agencies.

Prior to joining ICE, Mr. Albert was a Managing Director at McKenna Long & Aldridge, LLP — a law and public policy advisory firm. Mr. Albert has over twenty-five years of experience in the areas of political and governmental strategy. For twelve years, he held senior advisor positions in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, most recently as Chief of Staff to Senator Zell Miller (D-GA).  While in the Senate, he assisted on several key federal initiatives, including the 1996 Farm Bill, the 2001 Education Reauthorization and on a number of high profile tax and trade issues before the Senate Finance Committee.

In addition, Mr. Albert served in the executive branch as a Special Assistant to the Director of the United States Peace Corps under President George H.W. Bush.  He began his political career working in the Georgia State Senate in 1993.

Mr. Albert earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University and serves on the Board of Visitors for the University of Georgia and on the Board of Directors of the Commodity Markets Council.
